3 September 2009

Hi All: Welcome to New Mexico. Tried to get the photo's in the order I wanted them, but failed. WE got here about 1400 today, and we are now in Mountain Standard Time. Pharoah doesn't understand the time differences, he is hungry on Eastern Time? hee hee. It was a mess in Alaska last year when we were 5 hours difference. He would wake us up on Eastern Time to eat in the Morning? I think we stay on this time from now on?? Till we start back East.
The trip here was much better with the wind. It wasn't near as bad as before. I got up to 15.7 MPG coming here this time, but that was down a mountain. I then got 5.5 going up the other side of the mountain. The country really changed from flat desert, to hilly. Beautiful Mountain Desert type country. We went thru a part of Texas that had cattle pens on the side of the road. There must have been 10's of thousands of cattle waiting to be loaded on something, but only saw one "Long Horn Cow" and it wasn't there. It was sitting along the road in New Mexico laying there chewing on something. Sure had long horns....
We are at the "Enchanted Trails" campground just west of Albuquerque, right next to a Camping world. They had one guy that came to the campsite to change oil, but could not get hold of him, so I went to camping world and made an appointment at 0800 in the morning to have my oil changed. I usually do this myself at home, but you can't do that at any campground, and I understand why. I'm sure there would be lots of messes made when some other folks changed their oil. Camping world wouldn't use Mobil 1 oil, so I will let them use their Castrol this time. It's a little spendy. $85.00 to change the oil and filter. Gotta do what ya gotta do though...This should get be back home where I can change back to my Mobil 1 oil.....We'll be here two nights, so we leave here Saturday for Sun Valley, AZ for two more nights, then on to Williams,AZ for a week to visit The Grand Canyon.. Hope the weather stays nice.
Looks like it is going to rain here now. A big black cloudy area is off in the distance. Funny to be able to see storms that far away like you do here. Some come your way, some go away from ya. The wind has picked up so I fear we may be in for some rain....No matter, we are all settled in for the night.
Well, we'll try to find some more interesting photos tomorrow.
One photo is the sign welcoming you to New Mexico, another is a mountain sitting off in the distance that almost looked like a volcano sitting there all by itself. Another is of a wind mill farm . There must have been a couple hundred of them out there in the distance. Another of the decorations on a bridge over the Interstate. Kinda neat. Looks like a lot of work just for an overpass..
Hope all is well with everyone out there, and hope you all enjoy our trip with us.
