30 July 2009

Hi All: Had a good nights sleep last night. It was cool. Down to around 65 I think, and it stopped raining sometime during the night. It was a nice overcast day with the sun trying to come thru. Went to the grocery store and ordered a sandwich plate for the reunion Saturday, and went to Aunt Beryl's at around 1400.. She cooked a great supper. Amy's Uncle Don was also there. It started raining while we were eating and is still coming down lightly. When we got back to the Motor Home the ladies with the golf cart next door to us had parked their golf cart almost in front of our Motor Home so I had no place to park. I had to pull straight in beside the motor home on to the grass. Hate to do that. I suspect I am going to have a problem with those folks. The owner of the campground has asked me once if I had any problems with them. I said no, she just backed her golf cart in to my motor home a couple times that is all. It's just a tight fit for everyone here....Think the photo's may show you some of the situation....

Not much else to report for today. Hope we don't have any rain on Saturday for the reunion...

29 July 2009

Hi All: We finally made it to the Campground in Rose Point, PA, near New Castle. It has rained on us all the way from the campground in West Virginia, and is still raining here. The rain here is not like it is in Florida. The water lays around on the ground for days making a thing called MUD, and it gets in to everything. I had forgot about mud up here. WE will be tracking it in the rig for days..

Got here about 1400 and the park is pretty full. WE had a spot assigned us and had to get a lady to move her car so I could get our rig in our spot. Then after I got situated the lady realized she had her golf cart parked next to her motor home and would not be able to drive it out after I opened up my sliding room. She then had to jocky it around to park it so she will be able to drive it out. She only hit my motor home 3 times getting it moved. I was a happy camper. No damage though. She hit me easy. Seems her golf cart won't go in to forward from reverse when cold and wet. She is in the wrong part of the country to have to work with that problem.

WiFi works great here, and the satellite dish locked up right away, even in the rain, so we are all set. Amy called Aunt Beryl and set up for us to go visit her tomorrow due to the rain, and the two tired folks here. Pharaoh isn't tired, he slept the whole way up here.

Amy didn't take any photo's today, and if she had they would have looked like underwater photo's any way. We'll try to find some when it quits raining.

Sorry Ken. Borrowed our Tiller. (Brand New in March) and it went one trip across the garden and took a crap. He has Sears coming out Friday to repair it. I know how he feels about borrowing stuff. It almost always jumps up on our head and craps on ya....Really sorry Ken.
Thans for fixing it for me. I owe ya MORE now...

Well, better settle down...

Hi All: Had a wonderful short trip today. Only about 160 miles to Flatwoods, WV. At a nice KOA with WiFi and the satellite dish locked up within seconds. We are on the side of a mountain though. I do know what they say about folks from this part of the country having one leg shorter than the other. Don't know why they call this town "FLATWOODS" either. There are NO flatwoods around here. Beautiful country though. Know why Amy picked this place to stop. There is a Factory Outlet Mall right here at the Intersection. GO FIGURE. HEE HEE. She has already drug me over there... I think I bought more than she did too. Mine was nuts etc, her's was One dish...???

Could not find a grocery store any where around here. Had most everything else. No grocery store. Wonder what the folks eat that live here. Kentucky Fried Chicken, Wendy's, Taco Bell etc??? We did find a half gallon of milk at a gas station Food Mart for $3.10. That's over $6.00 a gallon???? Should be cheaper than that with all the cows I have seen around here....

We have about 160 more miles to go to get to New Castle tomorrow. The Mountains are beautiful, but do slow down the traveling. This Motor Home takes the hills great. Can pass most of the 18 wheelers on the hills. The hills sure has ate in to my MPG though....

Attached are a couple photo's Amy has taken. The one with the motor home in it is here in Flatwoods....

HI: Was just checking the Blog and it appears that my blog for yesterday is gone in to cyberspace some place. I don't know what happened to it. I even forget what I had said. Guess I need to type them in my computer, then copy and paste?? Hope I don't have to do that. We'll try it one more time.

We are now in Wytheville, VA at a KOA campground. Pretty nice but not as nice as Jolly Acres was last night, and cost twice as much here too. Cannot use the satellite dish. To many trees, AND Mountains. However, they have a 53 channel cable that comes with the site.

We had a nice trip today. Lots of hills and mountains, and beautiful country. Much better than I-95, but my gas mileage will be somewhat less due to the mountains. We have quite a few more mountains coming up tomorrow and the next day also thru West Virginia.

Camp Ground we stayed in last night was one that we have stayed at on each trip North I think. It is a member of one of our camping clubs we are members of so we got the nights stay for half price, so that was nice, and it was a real nice place. Very clean and even comes with your own little patio for each unit in the campground. Satellite worked very well, and also had a good WiFi..

This campground is nice also, WiFi works real well, but no Satellite. No problem. I'll try to attach a couple photo's to this one also.

HI: WE have had a nice lazy day so far today. Woke at around 0600, had coffee, went for a walk around the park here, then had breakfast of Ham and Eggs. Amy took a nap and then we went on another walk to the main area and checked out the little store. Didn't buy anything. Came back and I played on the computer some and Amy read, and got interested in an old Paul Newman movie, and now we are watching "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" Real lazy day.

We plan to get under way in the morning. Not sure how early. I have decided to unhook the car and dolly and back the Motor Home out of this site. It's supposed to be a drive thru, but I have to weave around some trees, and it looks kinda close. Besides, I have to back the rig back to get close to the dump station at this site. Don't want to have to hook several hoses together to reach that far back. Also don't want to knock any of the mirrors off the rig either. Will try to enclose a couple shots of the spot we're in.
Seems like they got downloaded OK. There is one tree on the right side of the rig that your can't see that is closer to the motor home. Could not put the awning out....
We'll be in South Carolina tomorrow. Hope my Internet "BlueTooth" thing works there.

24 July 2009

Hi All: We finally got underway at 1200 today. Things started out kind bad yesterday. I was checking things out on the Motor Home and found a bad battery. Went back up town after being there picking up pool supplies and got a new battery. Put it on charge over night. Got it installed OK. Also when I engaged the step it would go out, but would not go back in. I've had trouble with this step for a while now, So I called all over for a new motor for it and found that there was none to be had in the whole state of Florida. My favorite RV parts place "Gist" RV said he could have one shipped by 1000 the next day so I had him get it. I then went out and had a few words with the electric step and it started to work??? Go figure. Any way This morning I got things going and the dolly hooked up and the car loaded on it and the RV place called at 1030 and said the part was in. Went and picked it up and stored it in the Motor Home in case I need it. If the step malfunctions on the road now I can replace the motor etc, and I may be far enough North that it will be cooler??? The step is still working just fine.

We got to the Suwanee Music Park where we had reservations about two months ago, and got here at about 1600 in the rain. The guard at the gate did not have any our name so we had to park and go to the office. The office did not have our reservation either, but with deep searching in the computer, She said "Amy and Don" Well, the reservation was hidden way down in the computer it seems. She asked if a back in would be ok, I said NO, as I have reservations for a pull thru. She looked and looked. It seems there is some kind of going's one going on here this weekend. She found me a place that was so hidden that we drove around the whole park 4 times before we found it. I had to walk around in the rain to find our assigned site of "GG" Found it in the middle of a bunch of pine trees, and had to go around the whole place two more times to find a way that I can pull in to the site. Got in and just barely had room to open the two slides. Can not open the awning. (Still Raining) Had to use my 35 foor extension cord to hook up the electricity, and use two hoses to reach the water outlet. Will have to hook a couple 20 foot hoses to drain the holding tanks, but will do that when it quits raining. The reservations was also for a site to use my satellite dish, but I am in the middle of thick trees. Satellite will not lock on in here. They do have cable though, so we do have some TV. Kinda snowy, but we can see it. No WiFi, so I hooked up my Allel Internet thing and Wala. I have internet. It worked as advertised, so Here I am on the blog.

This campground is supposed to be a fancy High End campground that we had to pay extra on our campground membership. It is now one that is on our list to NEVER VISIT again. It seems to be full this time of the year, and does have activities going on during the weekend, so that may be the reason it's so busy this weekend. I had mentioned at check in I HAD reservations for a Pull Thru site, but she said she has given them all away due to the busy weekend. I said. I made these reservations two months or so ago, but they blamed the mess up on some one they just fired, so now we are in a site I am not sure we can get out of without cutting down some trees. Didn't bring my chainsaw either.. May have to unhook the car at any rate to wiggle my way thru the trees to get out of here Sunday..

It is now AFTER 5 O'Clock, so I am going to give my trouble to the "Lord". "Lord Calvert" in a bottle.. Things will be better as we go I hope...Amy and Pharaoh are handling things very well.

I'll write more tomorrow and hopefully have lotsl of good things to write.
